The Xiaomi 17 Pro finally showed up on JerryRigEverything, the popular YouTube channel run by Zack Nelson. He’s famous for testing how strong smartphones really are — and this time, the Xiaomi 17 Pro was on his workbench.
Built Different — and Still Tough
The Xiaomi 17 Pro stands out because of its unique rear screen, which some thought might make it weaker. But Zack’s test proved otherwise — the phone is just as durable as the iPhone 17 Pro, even with its unusual design.
Scratch Test Results
This version of the phone has a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, protected by Dragon Glass 3 instead of the usual Gorilla Glass. When Zack used his Moh’s hardness picks, the screen stayed safe until Level 6, with only light scratches at Level 7 — the same result as the iPhone’s Ceramic Shield 2.
Zack even said, “This Dragon Crystal Glass is definitely better than any other Android phone we’ve seen so far.”
Plastic Back, But With a Twist
Unlike most $900 flagships, the Xiaomi 17 Pro has a plastic back instead of glass. That might sound disappointing, but it actually makes the phone lighter, less likely to crack when dropped, and cheaper to repair. The back starts scratching at Level 6, so it’s not perfect — but it’s practical.
Bend and Burn Tests
The phone’s aluminum frame held up well in the bend test, with no serious damage. Even after exposure to a lighter flame, the display didn’t show any lasting marks.
Final Verdict
The Xiaomi 17 Pro is strong, stylish, and smartly built. You lose a bit of that glassy “premium” feel, but gain real-world durability. For $900, it’s a solid flagship that can take a beating and still look great doing it.
